Undergarments

Both sides issued a standard pattern undershirt to its Sailors. The USN issued white long sleeved flannel undershirts. There are also accounts that state the CSN issued blue undershirts to some of its Sailors. We know from photographs and surviving artifacts that US Sailors also wore blue undershirts. These blue undershirts appear to have been worn under both blue and white frocks (like the white undershirts), or without the frock as a working garment.

The surviving US Blue undershirts are made from 10oz wool flannel. Other fabrics also mentioned in surviving documents were cotton flannel and Canton Flannel Our Standard blue undershirt is made from a light cotton flannel. It has a round neck and ¾ length sleeves. We will also make it with long sleeves if you request.

Our standard white undershirts can be made from white cotton flannel (like the blue version) or Canton flannel like the originals.

Drawers

We also make drawers in the standard Government Issue pattern.  We make them from Canton flannel as were the originals, or we can make them from cotton flannel or muslin.  These drawers have a two button waistband, and size adjustment laces in the back.

Our drawers have hand sewn button holes and size adjustment lacing eyelets.
